If you’re looking to analyze the strength and abrasiveness of aggregate material, you will likely want to conduct a Los Angeles abrasion test. In this analysis, you will measure the effects of grinding, impact, and abrasion on the aggregate by rotating it in a steel drum and running it through a sieve. The aggregate test calculation determines how much of the aggregate broke down enough to pass through the sieve, informing you of the material’s abrasion loss value.

The first step in performing a Los Angeles abrasion test is acquiring an LA abrasion machine. Forney has three of these devices in our inventory, and all three are capable of highly accurate aggregate test calculations. We offer 110-volt and 220-volt versions of this machine, depending on your needs.

These machines feature heavy-duty welded design, and they can be easily retrofitted to incorporate the “Quiet Roll” sound baffle. In addition, they include a 1 HP enclosed motor assembly, a counterbalanced drum, an automatic pre-set digital counter, a material catch pan, 12 standard abrasion charges, and slip clutch coupling to relieve stress on the gear drive and motor.

Forney also stocks the aforementioned Quiet Roll sound baffle, lined with acoustic foam to significantly reduce the noise levels of your Los Angeles abrasion test. We also provide sets of 12 abrasion charges, giving you the hardened steel balls you need to properly analyze aggregate test calculation rates. If you have any questions about our Los Angeles abrasion test machines or accessories, contact Forney today at 800-367-6397 and we’ll be happy to help!
