Precast plants seeking NPCA plant certification need to prove proficiency in ASTM test methods for fresh concrete, especially self-consolidating concrete. But fresh concrete testing takes time, and there are a number of standards to adhere to.
“The information collected during this process and the way concrete is handled at this step greatly informs the rest of the quality control process and project as a whole,” Scott Grumski, VP of Platform Development, says in this Precast Today article. His tips cover everything from slump and slump flow to air content. Grumski concludes: “Do these tests by the book, and with the help of some tips and tricks along the way, getting certified should not be a roadblock for your plant.”
