Permeameters Constant Faling Head

Permeameters Constant Faling Head
Determines coefficient of permeability by the constant or falling head method for laminar flow of water through granular soils. Permeameters are available in five sizes. Model LA-3634 is pictured. One-piece acrylic chamber permits sample viewing during test. Sample lengths easily changed for constant or falling head tests by use of spacer that attaches to top cap spring. Spring applies 5-10 lb (2.3 - 4.5kg) force against top stone or screen to prevent soil density changes during test. End caps and clamping ring are anodized aluminum. Each chamber is equipped with valves, porous stones or perforated screens, depending on the diameter; tubing and connections for water, vacuum and manometer. Manometer tube, scale and permeameter base are secured to a platform, creating a compact, portable unit. Adjustable constant head reservoir (not shown) mounts to the upright scale and is easily removed.
